Women staying at home to raise children while having freelance, part-time or even full-time jobs on the side by working from home has been an increasingly popular work-life model that developed as a result of technology and ability to telecommunicate.

As appealing as this model seems, it does have its drawbacks that everyone looking to adopt it should know.

First of all, there are plenty of scams online trying to entice potential “employees” to pay large sums of money up front and become members of a program which can bring unrealistic earnings in a short time, and similar such scams.

Depending on the line of work one is in a realistic sum of money that a stay-at-home mom can hope to make is anywhere between $1,500-$3,000 on average per month.

As you can see, this amount can easily translate into a living wage as if the person working from home were actually working a regular 9-5 job.

Another possible drawback is that a freelancer might earn $4,000 one month and only $1,000 the next month. This is something that has to be taken into consideration when making the household budget.

All things being equal, by working from home a stay-at-home mom can earn close to or equal to a 9-5 jobs after a few years of experience and a wide enough network of co-workers and associates to occasionally rely on.
