Step #2: Choose the item you’ll sell and research pricing
Now that you have an account, you can choose the item you want to sell. It’s often easiest for beginners to pick an item that they already own but no longer need.
This allows you to get an idea of how Ebay works and dip your toes in the waters of e-commerce.
Once you know which item you’ll be selling, it’s time to do some research. Buyers on Ebay are looking for a bargain so you want to research similar items that have sold.
At the top of the Ebay homepage is a search option. By the search button is a link that reads ‘Advanced’. Click this link and the advanced search page will appear.
In the search box, type the item you’ll be selling then scroll down. Look for the option that reads ‘Search Including’ and check the ‘sold listings’.
Now you can view items just like yours and see how much they’ve sold for. Knowing this will give you idea of how to set the price for your item.
You may discover that you were going to price an item lower than what buyers were willing to pay for it. Using the search function will give you valuable data so you can estimate the best price for your product.
