Prioritizing Your Tasks When Working From Home

Working from home can mean you are a full-or part-time employee set up in a remote location, a contract employee working from the privacy of his/her own home or a freelancer who, for all they know, might be working from a beach in Thailand. In reality, it’s usually a combination of one of these situations, which can make things slightly complicated when it comes to prioritizing your tasks.

Time management is crucial when working outside the office because communication with the company you work for or your sources of jobs, if you are a freelancer, is usually scheduled around regular office hours in their time zone.

For that reason, schedule your time accordingly and plan to be working and available when they are at work as well.

If you are a full- or part-time employee working from home and doing freelance work on the side, always make sure you complete your regular daily tasks for your job first before moving on to freelance tasks.

This way you can avoid missing important deadlines at your primary job and reducing the stress of working 2+ jobs.

Once all your daily tasks are complete move on to irregular tasks that come and go.

If you are experienced at working from home you can take little breaks that are used for house work, but until you are comfortable with your time management skills stick to completing your work tasks first before including any chores in your busy schedule.
