Work Hours & Time Management

Working from home can be a double-edged blade. It is pretty convenient, but it can also trigger the procrastinator that hides in each and every one of us. This is why time and project management is crucial for an effective work-from-home strategy.

Here are some of the basic tips on how to organize your home working hours:

  • Always use a to-do list. For each and every project.
  • Triage your work (meaning you have to figure out what task are to be done in which order. Most important tasks are usually on top. Some freelancers call this “productive procrastination”).
  • Don’t make procrastination a habit.
  • Figure out your optimal working hours, time of day you are most productive, and stick to this time frame.
  • Sketch out your ideas before designing them on the computer. Saves time and keeps you from having numerous unused drafts on your hard drive.
  • If you are overwhelmed with the work, outsource to other designers.
